The French far-right manages to conquer Nice, but slips away from Marseille.

Paris. This Sunday, the far-right achieved a victory in Nice with Éric Ciotti, an ally of Marine Le Pen. However, it was unsuccessful in Marseille, where the socialist Benoît Payan was re-elected as mayor, according to initial estimates. With the polling stations closed, Ciotti garnered 45% of the votes, while the outgoing mayor, the centrist Christian Estrosi, received 39.5%, according to projections from the consultancy Ifop. Ciotti celebrated the victory, highlighting the change the citizens yearned for. The city, with 360,000 inhabitants, will become the stronghold of the far-right in France, which has also captured cities like Carcassonne. However, it was unable to assert itself in other municipalities of the Mediterranean region such as Toulon or Nîmes.
