Brent drops 8% to 103 dollars, amid a possible ceasefire in Iran.

Madrid. This Monday, at the close of operations in European markets, the price of Brent crude fell by 8%, settling at 103 dollars per barrel. This decrease came after the announcement by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who stated that he would delay attacks on energy facilities in Iran for five days, as he is in negotiations with the Persian country for a potential ceasefire. By the end of the trading day in Europe, Brent crude had decreased by 8.03%, standing at 103.18 dollars, according to information from Bloomberg. A few minutes after 12:00 in Spain, Brent crude fell nearly 17%, reaching a low of 96 dollars per barrel. The price of oil responded to a comment from Trump, in which he claimed that the United States and Iran had been in discussions to resolve their conflicts in the Middle East. Trump explained that he has instructed the Department of Defence to suspend all military attacks on Iran’s energy plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days, depending on the success of the ongoing meetings and dialogues. Trump’s statement led to a change in the price of oil, which for Brent reached a peak of 114.43 dollars this morning. However, following Trump’s comments, it experienced a decline, similar to Texas oil (WTI), which fell by 7.3%, reaching 91.09 dollars at the close of European stock markets. Additionally, the price of natural gas for delivery in one month on the TTF market in the Netherlands closed with a decrease of 5.6%, standing at 56.03 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).
