The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, signed the free trade agreement between the EU and the Mercosur countries on 17 January 2026, in Asunción.
Brussels announces the provisional application of the EU-Mercosur agreement from 1 May.
