Begoña Gómez has appealed the ruling of Judge Juan Carlos Peinado which determines that her case should be assessed by a popular jury. In her appeal, she argues that the magistrate’s decision includes misleading reasoning, «assumptions» without evidence, and «numerous omissions.» Lawyer Antonio Camacho has submitted a request for reform, arguing that the only thing that has been demonstrated in this process is «the firm determination of the Instructor to pursue a criminal case, despite having no basis to support it,» and that Begoña Gómez is being investigated «for being the wife of the President of the Government.»
Begoña Gómez opposes being judged by a jury and denounces the judge’s conjectures.
