Inflation in Spain rises to 3.3% in March following an increase in fuel prices due to the war in Iran.

In March, inflation reached 3.3% year-on-year, which represents an increase of one point compared to February. This rise is due to the increase in fuel prices, resulting from the surge in oil caused by the conflict in the Middle East, reaching a level not seen since June 2024. According to the leading indicator released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Friday, the increase in inflation for March has also been affected by the rise in the price of heating oil and by the less pronounced reduction compared to last year in the cost of electricity. The projection for core inflation, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, remained at 2.7% year-on-year, the same as in March.
