Valencia (EFE).- This afternoon, a protest has taken place in the centre of Valencia demanding that the former president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, resign from his position as a deputy and be imprisoned. This follows the summons of the judge from Catarroja asking him to testify as a witness in the case related to the management of the disaster. The demonstration began at 18:00 from the Town Hall square in Valencia, led by a banner that reads «Mazón to prison». The participants are calling for the former president to step down from his position as a deputy in the Les Corts Valencianes and present himself before the court in Catarroja that is investigating the crisis management. More than 200 social, civic and trade union organisations from the Valencian Community, as well as associations of victims of the dana, the Local Emergency and Reconstruction Committees, and the Valencian Social Accord, have organised this march. The protesters have been «17 months on the streets denouncing Mazón and his Consell’s lack of attention», which has resulted in «one of the largest natural disasters in the Valencian Community turning into a human tragedy».
A new protest is making its way through Valencia to demand that Mazón resign his position as a deputy due to the DANA.
