The European Commission has recommended that the member states of the European Union implement actions to reduce the consumption of kerosene and diesel, considering the possibility that the conflict in the Middle East may escalate. Furthermore, it requests that refineries continue operating at their maximum capacity. The European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, communicated this to the capitals of the Twenty-Seven through a letter. The European Commission asks member states to prepare to implement measures that ensure the supply of oil and refined petroleum products in the EU. Brussels asserts that the EU is prepared due to the requirement for member states to maintain oil reserves and have contingency plans in place. The release of more than 400 million barrels of strategic oil reserves has been carried out, coordinated by the International Energy Agency. Jørgensen urged the capitals to assess the implementation of measures to reduce demand, paying attention to the transport sector.
Brussels suggests that European countries take measures to save fuel in transport.
