This Tuesday, the group stage of the football World Cup concluded, which will start on 11 June and will feature teams from 48 countries. In this stage, 4 European teams qualified through a play-off that included 16 contenders, in addition to 2 teams that advanced from a round-robin of 6 teams held in Mexico. The Czech Republic eliminated Denmark and Bosnia eliminated Italy, which will miss the World Cup for the third time. The other two European teams that successfully qualified are Turkey and Sweden. During the intercontinental play-off, the Democratic Republic of the Congo secured its qualification at the expense of Jamaica, while the last available spot went to Iraq. The twenty-third edition of the World Cup will consist of 104 matches. The tournament will kick off on 11 June at the Estadio Azteca with the match between Mexico and South Africa, and will conclude on 17 July at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The initial stage, consisting of 12 groups, will be set up after 72 matches, before 32 teams advance to the next round.
