The EU supports the agreement on Gibraltar so that it can take effect on 15 July.

Brussels (EFE).- This Wednesday, the Council of the European Union approved the documents of the agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom regarding Gibraltar, as well as the resolutions for its signing and provisional application from 15 July. With the support of the community’s ambassadors, the documents will be officially approved once their legal and linguistic review is completed, the Council indicated in a statement, which anticipated that the agreement could come into provisional effect on the mentioned date. The pact on Gibraltar will conclude the legal framework that governs relations between the EU and the United Kingdom, which was established by the trade and cooperation agreement signed between both parties following Brexit. The Council highlighted that Gibraltar is not part of the scope of the trade and cooperation agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom, which was signed in 2020 and has been in force since 2021.
