A Russian military plane crashes in the Crimea peninsula and its 29 crew members die, according to reports.

A Russian military cargo plane flying over the Crimean peninsula crashed into a cliff, resulting in the deaths of 23 passengers and 6 crew members, according to the Russian news agency TASS. Communication with the An-26 aircraft was lost at 18:00 Moscow time on Tuesday during a scheduled flight over Crimea. Rescue teams located the crash site and were deployed at the moment contact with the aircraft was lost. The Crimean peninsula has been under Russian control since 2014, following a referendum that was not recognised by the international community. This territory is a point of conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
