Joram van Klaveren, originally from the Netherlands, was a thinker opposed to Islam within the radical right led by Geert Wilders, and his ideas are now echoed by those who follow in his footsteps in the Netherlands. Converted to Islam in 2018, he now visits schools, prisons, and participates in debates to dismantle the structure of hatred he himself helped to create. Van Klaveren, 47 years old with roots in Protestant Christianity, spent nearly twelve years in politics opposing Islam. He was a member of parliament and spokesperson for the Party for Freedom (PVV) from 2010 to 2014, and came to be seen as Wilders’ successor.
