An A330 aircraft from the Air and Space Army has returned 171 Spanish citizens who were in Oman due to the conflict with Iran. The aircraft landed at Torrejón de Ardoz airbase at 06:50 hours, according to sources from the Ministry of Defence. The flight is part of the evacuation mission in which Wing 45 and the Air Deployment Support Squadron of the Air and Space Army have collaborated, to assist Spaniards who were stranded due to the closure of airspace following attacks on Iran by the USA and Israel. Additionally, the possibility of sending more aircraft to the Middle East region has not been ruled out. On Tuesday, a commercial flight that arrived from Abu Dhabi brought the first 175 evacuated Spaniards from the Middle East to Madrid. This was the first action by the Government from various regions of the Middle East to bring back as many Spaniards as possible, including residents, tourists, and those who have relocated for work purposes, totalling over 30,000 individuals. The Ministry of Defence has indicated that in October 2024, three military aircraft from the Air and Space Army carried out the evacuation of over 240 Spanish citizens in Lebanon, due to the rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.
