A military Hercules aircraft with 125 people on board has crashed in southern Colombia: there are 83 survivors.

A Hercules aircraft of the Colombian Air Force suffered an accident shortly after taking off from Puerto Leguízamo airport in Putumayo. Authorities have confirmed eight fatalities and 83 injuries. The governor of Putumayo stated that 14 of the injured are in critical condition. The commander of the Air Force communicated that 48 injured individuals have been rescued. The aircraft was transporting 125 people, including 112 members of the National Army, 11 members of the Air Force, and two police officers. Several injured have been evacuated to Neiva and Florencia. The incident occurred at 9:50 local time when the aircraft fell to the ground and ignited a fire, for reasons currently under investigation.
