A Hercules aircraft of the Colombian Air Force (FAC) carrying 125 people had an accident on Monday, just minutes after taking off from the airport in Puerto Leguízamo, Putumayo. Authorities have confirmed that there are 48 survivors. On board were 114 passengers and eleven crew members. 48 injured people have been rescued, although this is an initial figure, commented FAC commander, General Carlos Silva, in a video shared on X. The Defence Minister, Pedro Sánchez Suárez, stated that a Hercules aircraft of the FAC had an accident while taking off from Puerto Leguízamo, while transporting troops of the Public Force. The Minister of Defence mentioned that troops are already on site of the accident and that procedures for assisting the victims and their families have been initiated, in addition to starting the necessary investigation to determine the reasons for the incident. The governor of Putumayo, John Gabriel Molina, commented that they are in the process of rescuing the injured and that they do not have a detailed report on the consequences of the accident.
