At least 22 dead and 30 injured after a crane fell onto a moving train in Thailand.

Bangkok. This Wednesday in Thailand, at least 22 people have lost their lives and 30 have been injured due to the collapse of a construction crane onto a passenger train travelling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani, with dozens of people on board. The government of Nakhon Ratchasima reported that the crane was holding a railway bridge under construction and fell onto the passenger train, causing a derailment and a fire in the area, to which rescue teams have responded. So far, the rescue team has recovered 22 bodies and assisted around 30 injured individuals, some of whom have been taken to hospitals. Authorities are verifying the passenger list against records of those who have survived. Initially, the local government reported four deaths, but in a subsequent statement, it revised the figure and increased it to 22 recovered bodies, while rescue operations continue in the area. The incident took place in Ban Thanon Kho, 32 kilometres from Bangkok, where firefighters have controlled the blaze, while rescue teams used various tools to free those affected, many of whom were trapped in the overturned carriages. Several local media outlets and social media users have shared photos of the incident, showing the fire and numerous rescuers present at the scene of the accident.
