This Wednesday in Thailand, at least 29 people have lost their lives and 30 have sustained injuries due to the collapse of a construction crane onto a passenger train travelling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani, according to the latest official data. The Nakhon Ratchasima government reported that the crane was supporting a railway bridge under construction and fell onto the passenger train, causing a derailment and a fire in the area. Rescue teams reported that there could be five or more people trapped in the train cars, which was carrying around two hundred passengers at the time of the accident. Firefighters controlled the blaze while rescue teams worked to free those affected, many of whom were trapped in the overturned carriages. Several local media outlets and social media users have shared photos of the incident, showing the fire and rescuers present at the accident site.
