Madrid.- According to sources close to the investigation, five people have lost their lives, several others have been injured, and an indeterminate number are trapped following the derailment of two high-speed trains in Adamuz, Córdoba. Three of the deceased were on an Alvia train, while two were on the Iryo, which came off the tracks. The Iryo was carrying 317 passengers, who departed from Málaga at 18:40 bound for the Puerta de Atocha station in Madrid. Just over an hour later, the last three carriages of the train derailed, spilling onto the adjacent line which was occupied by another Renfe train bound for Huelva, which also derailed. The incident occurred at 19:45 when the high-speed train Iryo 6189 travelling from Málaga to Puerta de Atocha came off the tracks at the entry switches of platform 1 in Adamuz, invading the adjacent track. On that track, another high-speed train, the 2384 from Puerta de Atocha to Huelva, also derailed. According to reports from the InfoAdif account on X, the accident has necessitated the deployment of emergency services to the incident site. Additionally, high-speed train traffic between Madrid and Andalusia has been suspended, and all trains that were en route have been diverted back to their starting points. The incident in Adamuz has required the deployment of emergency services in the affected area.
