Azerbaijan puts its Armed Forces on alert following a drone attack attributed to Iran.

Azerbaijan has activated a state of alert in its Armed Forces following a drone attack attributed to Iran, described by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as a terrorist act. The armed forces, including the Ministry of Defence and the State Border Service, have been placed on high alert and must be ready to carry out any operation, he stated during a meeting of the National Security Council, convened after an incident that resulted in four people being injured and for which Tehran rejected responsibility. The president of Azerbaijan declared that those who carried out the attack must be held accountable under the law and called for clarifications and apologies from the Iranian authorities. Furthermore, he asserted that Azerbaijan is not involved in actions against Iran, where a population of ethnic Azerbaijanis resides. He reminded that Baku had previously expressed its condolences for the passing of Iran’s supreme leader and accused the Persian nation of being ungrateful.
