Banco Santander expects to double its cash dividend and earn more than £20 billion by 2028.

Banco Santander anticipates that the cash dividend per share will double by 2028 compared to 2025, and that in that year it will exceed €20 billion in profits, according to the strategic plan presented for the next three years. According to the plan reported to the National Securities Market Commission, the entity will continue with its strategy of rewarding shareholders, distributing approximately 50% of its profits through dividends and share buybacks. Santander aims to increase the cash dividend payout ratio to around 35% of the group’s profits starting from the results of 2027, and will allocate about 15% to share buybacks. Furthermore, it aims to achieve a return exceeding 20% by 2028, and to reach a CET1 capital ratio of approximately 13% in terms of solvency.
