Beijing (EFE) – This Saturday, China expressed its rejection of the military attacks by the United States against Venezuela and asked Washington to respect international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, according to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Beijing’s stance was communicated through a notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to journalists’ inquiries regarding the military action by the United States and President Donald Trump’s announcement concerning the detention of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. According to the ministry, China condemns the use of force by the United States against a sovereign nation and the targeting of the president of another country. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that these actions constitute a violation of international law, undermine Venezuela’s sovereignty, and threaten peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean, while emphasising that China opposes such conduct. Beijing urged Washington to respect international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter and to cease infringements on the sovereignty and security of other nations.
