In 2025, the number of births increased by 1%, reaching a total of 321,164, along with a delay in the age of motherhood. Deaths rose by 2.5%, meaning that natural growth continues to be negative. The information comes from the statistics published by the INE, which presents a monthly estimate of births and deaths at the end of 2025. These data are provisional and may be adjusted. In Spain, 446,982 people died, representing a 2.5% increase compared to the previous year. The natural increase of the population showed a negative balance of 122,167 people. More births were registered in October and September, while February and June had the lowest number of births. Regarding deaths, the highest numbers were reported in January and December, with September having the lowest number of fatalities. A 1.0% increase in the number of births was recorded during the year 2025.
