Bulgaria will hold elections in 2026, after the attempt to establish a new government failed following the resignation of the previous one due to protests. The Alliance for Rights and Freedoms returned the task of forming a new government to President Rumen Radev due to a lack of support. The president declared: «Then we will go to elections.» On Monday, the mandate was granted to the GERB party and to the interim Prime Minister, Rosen Zhelyazkov, who returned it.
Bulgaria will celebrate its eighth elections since 2021 after the failure to form a Government.
