Central bank governors from around the world support the independence of the Fed and its chairman Powell.

A group of central bank governors from various countries expressed their support for the United States Federal Reserve and its leader, Jerome Powell, who is currently under criminal investigation in his country. «We express our support for the Federal Reserve System and its chairman, Jerome H.,» the signatories, which include Andrew Bailey, governor of the Bank of England; Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank; and Pablo Hernández de Cos, general manager of the Bank for International Settlements and former governor of the Bank of Spain, mentioned Powell. «The autonomy of central banks is a key element in maintaining price stability, as well as financial and economic stability, for the benefit of the citizens we serve,» they state in their declaration.
