China dismissed the idea that trade could be used as a weapon or as a means of political pressure, in response to the threat from US President Donald Trump to disrupt trade relations with Spain due to its stance on the war in Iran. The response from the world’s second largest economy came a day after Trump criticised the Spanish government for refusing to allow the use of the Rota and Morón bases for operations related to the offensive against Iran, stating that he could interrupt all trade with Spain and even impose an embargo.
