Delcy Rodríguez dismisses Vladimir Padrino López after more than a decade as Venezuela’s Minister of Defence.

Caracas. This Wednesday, Delcy Rodríguez, the interim president of Venezuela, dismissed Vladimir Padrino López, who had held the position of Minister of Defence. In his place, she appointed General Gustavo González López, two months after the detention of President Nicolás Maduro during a military attack in Caracas. Rodríguez expressed her gratitude to Padrino López for his dedication and loyalty to the nation. Furthermore, she stated that the former minister would take on new responsibilities that would be assigned to him. Padrino López assumed the ministerial position on 24 October 2014, following protests against the government that initiated Nicolás Maduro’s first presidential term.
