Washington.- This Thursday, in Caracas, Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, had a meeting with the CIA director, John Ratcliffe. During the meeting, they discussed security matters with the aim of finding common ground, according to sources from the intelligence agency reported to EFE. Ratcliffe travelled to the South American nation on instructions from President Donald Trump, with the purpose of conveying that the United States anticipates an improvement in collaboration, The New York Times initially reported, citing a U.S. government official. In the meeting, Director Ratcliffe discussed economic cooperation opportunities and emphasised that Venezuela has ceased to be a refuge for U.S. opponents, particularly for drug traffickers, stated an official source mentioned by CNN. The CIA leader is the highest-ranking U.S. official and the first member of Donald Trump’s Cabinet to travel to Venezuela following the operation that led to the capture and transfer of Maduro and his wife to New York to face charges of narcoterrorism.
