Madrid (EFE) The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, stated that if the Government has kept a «suspected rapist» in the position of deputy operational director of the National Police for the past month, it is because they have not dismissed him for his actions, but rather because the situation has come to light. He wrote on his X account after the resignation of José Ángel González, who stepped down following a Madrid court accepting a lawsuit filed against him by an officer for a sexual assault offence. If the Government has kept a supposed rapist in charge of the National Police, at least for the past month, and now decides to have him leave, one can only reach one conclusion: they do not dismiss him for his actions, but because the information has come to light. Until it was made public, they were aware and covered it up. González’s resignation comes just hours after it was announced that the 8th Court of Violence against Women in Madrid has summoned him to testify on 17 March due to a complaint from an officer for a sexual assault offence.
Feijóo says that the Government «protected and covered up» the number two of the Police who resigned after a lawsuit for sexual assault.
