Felipe VI calls for moderation in the Middle East and urges that civilian lives are respected.

Barcelona (EFE).- This Sunday, Felipe VI urged for moderation in the use of force in the Middle East, emphasising the importance of respecting civilian life and seeking a diplomatic solution to the conflict situation, which has arisen following the launch of the ‘Epic Fury’ operation in Iran. During his address at the gala dinner at the National Art Museum of Catalonia to celebrate the opening of the twentieth edition of the Mobile World Congress, the king referenced the situation in the Middle East in the context of the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as Iran’s response to Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The state leader noted that there is a situation that poses a danger of escalation in the region with uncertain consequences. He also indicated that the best way to prevent chaos and repression is through a diplomatic solution, which would also help to resume dialogue in the pursuit of peace. Additionally, he commented on the situation in Ukraine and recalled that in this very forum, just days after the Russian invasion, he emphasised the importance of the principles that unite the international community, such as peace, dialogue, and cooperation. «Four years after the start of Putin’s aggression, a clear path to peace is still not in sight.»
