Former Minister Cristóbal Montoro, who according to a judge played a role in a conspiracy accused of altering laws to benefit gas companies in exchange for money, has defended his position by citing a report from the UCO that maintains there is no evidence against him, beyond the assumptions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Montoro states in a document that he is requesting the annulment of the extension of the case for which he is accused, a decision made in January last year by the Court of Instruction No. 2 in Tarragona. He believes that this extension was unjustified due to the lack of evidence against him. «After seven years of investigation, most of which the case has been kept secret, and with the involvement of the UCO, the Tax Agency, and the Mossos d’Esquadra, the outcome has been null,» he emphasises.
Former Minister Montoro seeks refuge in the UCO and sees no evidence against him.
