Freedom with charges for the Compromís councillor in Altea (Alicante) arrested for gender-based violence.

Rafael Ramón Mompó, a councillor of the Altea town council and a member of Compromís, has been arrested as the presumed perpetrator of a gender-based violence offence against his partner. According to the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, he has been released with charges in relation to offences of physical mistreatment with injuries and minor coercions. This Sunday, Ramón Mompó was arrested for allegedly assaulting his partner and causing injuries in a house in Xàbia, in the north of the province of Alicante. On Monday, the councillor was brought before a judge in the Women’s Violence Court of the Dénia District Court, where his release was decided, although he is under investigation in a case related to offences of physical mistreatment with injuries and minor coercions. Neither party has requested a protection order, and the court has not granted one as it did not consider that the requirements were met. The TSJCV has also noted that the victim has chosen not to testify and has not confirmed the complaint. The process has been transferred to the Criminal Section of the Benidorm District Court for trial proceedings.
