Iran threatens to attack US companies if its energy infrastructure is struck.

Tehran.- On Saturday, Iran reiterated its warning that it could carry out attacks against facilities of American companies in the Middle East if the United States and Israel target its energy infrastructure, following the bombing on the Iranian island of Jarg, which is crucial for the oil industry of the Islamic Republic. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, warned that if Iran’s facilities are attacked, Iranian forces will respond by targeting the facilities of American companies in the region or those in which the United States has investments, as reported by the Tasnim agency. The Iranian diplomat stated that his nation will react to any aggression against its energy facilities. However, he mentioned that Iran will proceed with caution to avoid impacting densely populated areas. This morning, the Iranian Armed Forces warned that, in the event of an attack on the petroleum, economic, and energy infrastructure of the Islamic Republic, «all the petroleum, economic, and energy infrastructure of the companies in the region that have links with the United States or collaborate with this country will be annihilated.» These alerts were issued following the United States’ attack on military facilities on the island of Jarg, where 90% of the oil that Iran exports globally is found. US President Donald Trump described this bombing as one of the most decisive in the history of the Middle East. The Republican leader indicated that if Iran obstructs the navigation of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, it could also carry out attacks against the oil infrastructure on the island, located 25 kilometres off the coast of Iran, where the country’s oil terminal and the loading point for oil tankers are situated.
