Israel bombs southern Lebanon after ordering a mass evacuation.

Jerusalem (EFE).- On Wednesday, Israel carried out bombings in southern Lebanon as part of its conflict with the group Hizbollah, just hours after instructing residents to move to the north of the Litani River. The armed forces had instructed the inhabitants of southern Lebanon to relocate «immediately» to the north of the Litani River, due to the possibility of new attacks against homes used by Hizbollah or buildings near «military installations or resources.» The Litani River demarcates the operational area of the peacekeeping forces, which are situated between this natural barrier and the north of the Blue Line; this line is Lebanon’s unofficial border with Israel and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, from where Israeli troops withdrew in 2000.
