Kyiv announces that a technical failure is causing power cuts in Ukraine and Moldova.

The Ukrainian government has reported that a technical issue has caused disruptions in the electrical system, leading to power cuts and impacting Moldova, resulting in blackouts in some areas of the country. «At 10:42 today, a technical failure occurred that caused the simultaneous drop of the 400-kilovolt line connecting the electrical systems of Romania and Moldova, as well as the 750-kilovolt line between the western and central regions of Ukraine,» stated Energy Minister Denys Shmihal via Telegram. This caused a failure in Ukraine’s power grid and the activation of safety measures at substations. «The units of the nuclear plants were evacuated,» he commented, adding that the operator has implemented power cuts in the areas of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv.
