The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, declared that an international defensive mission is being carried out with the aim of opening the Strait of Hormuz, through which a portion of the world’s oil and gas transit. Macron explained that eight frigates, two amphibious helicopter carriers, and a aircraft carrier from France will be sent to the Eastern Mediterranean, which will help attract and mobilise other European nations. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the French president clarified that the mission will be conducted with the participation of both European and non-European countries, once the most critical phase of the conflict has been overcome.
