Marches on 8M, feminism will once again make its fracture visible for the fifth consecutive year.

On 8 March, the division within the feminist movement will be evident due to the organisation of separate marches, although the demands remain the same: to achieve equality between men and women and to eliminate gender-based violence. In the last five years, the demands of feminist currents have been characterised by disagreements regarding three issues: legislation on gender identity, surrogacy, and the elimination of prostitution. At the same time, Spanish society demonstrates support for equality and feminism, although it is affected by the debate on the effectiveness of equality policies, especially among young people. In Spain and elsewhere, 8 March 2020 generated controversy due to the holding of demonstrations just days before the WHO announced the covid-19 pandemic. The following year, the pandemic led to a Women’s Day without protests and with online activities.
