One hundred Spanish soldiers evacuated from Iraq to Turkey, with another 200 set to be evacuated in the coming hours.

Around a hundred Spanish soldiers in Iraq have been transferred to Turkey due to the conflict in the Middle East, and it is expected that the remaining 200 will be evacuated from the country, according to Defence Minister Margarita Robles. In a press conference, Robles commented that the situation is complicated and indicated that the aim is for all the military personnel to return to Spain. Three planes are prepared to carry out the transfer as soon as an opportunity arises. Of the soldiers in Turkey, 57 belong to the international coalition Inherent Resolve, which is fighting against the Islamic State, and 42 were part of the NATO mission in Iraq, known as NMI.
