Javier Ortega Smith, the spokesperson for Vox in the Madrid City Council, who has been suspended from the organisation led by Santiago Abascal, declared that he does not deserve the situation he is going through and that he feels at peace with his conscience. Furthermore, he warned that he is willing to defend his reputation, even through legal actions. Ortega Smith expressed this to journalists during his first public appearance following the suspension of his membership by Vox, which has led to Santiago Abascal being the only one of the party’s founders who remains in the current leadership. «I believe that my behaviour has been exemplary, and I do not deserve what I am going through, nor what my colleagues are experiencing. Therefore, out of a sense of justice, I will fight within the party using the resources permitted by our statutes. I will appeal whatever needs to be appealed, and if necessary, I will take the matter to court.»
