The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, believes that Europe needs to invest in its defence industry to transform from a consumer of security to a provider. He stated in an interview with CNN that this involves allocating 2% of the Gross Domestic Product to defence. He added that the challenge for the European Union is to strengthen the European pillar of NATO.
