As many as eight autonomous communities have started the new year with extended budgets due to political instability. This includes those where the PP and Vox have ended their agreements, some in the midst of an electoral process, as well as Catalonia, where the PSC is in minority government. While the State has extended its budget for the third year, the communities of Aragón, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, and Murcia have begun the year 2026 without new budgets. Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, Madrid, and La Rioja have managed to avoid this thanks to the majorities that support their governments, while Asturias, on 31 December, as well as the Canary Islands, Navarra, and the Basque Country, have achieved this due to the stability of their government coalitions or parliamentary agreements.
Political instability prevents eight autonomous regions from starting 2026 with new budgets.
