Pope Leo XIV laments to the cardinals that the Church «closed the door» to the victims of abuse.

Vatican City. This week, during a consistory with cardinals, Pope Leo XIV expressed his sadness over the Church’s decision to «close the door» on abuse victims, which has intensified their suffering, the Holy See reported. «Abuse causes a wound that can last; however, the scandal in the Church arises because the door was closed and support was not offered to the victims,» asserted Leo XIV during his speech at the end of the meeting. In the statement published by the Vatican Press Office, Leo XIV expressed that «the suffering of the victims has been intensified by not having received support or attention.»
