Alicante (EFE) – This Friday, the National Police arrested Carlos Baño, president of the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, in connection with a corruption case related to consumer vouchers in twenty municipalities of the province, corresponding to the years 2022 and 2023. The Alicante County Council, under the leadership of Carlos Mazón, launched this consumer voucher campaign to stimulate household spending in the province, in response to the economic repercussions of the COVID pandemic. The investigation seeks to determine whether there was fraud in the administration of those public funds.
