Rescue teams in the Gaza Strip are attempting to rescue 67 individuals who are still trapped beneath the rubble of an apartment building in Beit Lahia. On 29 October 2024, an Israeli airstrike destroyed an apartment building in Beit Lahia, resulting in the deaths of 200 members of the Abu Naser family who were present at the time. More than 470 days later, rescue teams in the Gaza Strip are trying to recover the 67 people who remain trapped in the debris, in one of the operations aimed at retrieving bodies that lie under the ruins of the collapsed buildings. Since the ceasefire was declared, rescuers have been using machinery to recover the bodies that were not able to be located during two years of bombardments.
Rescuers are removing the rubble in Gaza in search of thousands of buried bodies.
