Russia has once again left part of Kyiv without electricity, water, and heating at 12 degrees below zero.

Odesa (Ukraine) (EFE).- This Tuesday, a Russian assault on Ukraine’s energy facilities left parts of Kyiv without electricity, water, and heating, while temperatures in the city hover around minus 12 degrees. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the military administration of the capital region, Timur Tkachenko, the east bank of the Dnipro River has been the most affected by the attack. In the early hours of the morning, the Air Force reported that drones and ballistic missiles were headed towards the capital. This morning’s offensive marks Russia’s third attack on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure since 9 January. On that date, a missile and drone strike left parts of the city without electricity or heating for nearly three days, right at the onset of the cold snap. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been warning that the Russians are planning a new attack on Ukraine’s energy system, aiming to exacerbate the supply crisis that has already been affected by previous bombings, especially amid the cold. Last week, Ukraine received a shipment of anti-aircraft missiles to strengthen its defenses and improve its response capability against Russian attacks.
