Sánchez and Junqueras make progress in an autonomous financing model already rejected by the PP.

Madrid. This Thursday, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, presented a new regional financing system to the leader of ERC, Oriol Junqueras, which would apply to all autonomous communities. According to Esquerra, this would mean an increase for Catalonia of approximately 4.7 billion euros, although the PP has rejected this proposal. Sánchez and Junqueras met at Moncloa to discuss this and other matters. Junqueras announced the agreement between Esquerra Republicana and the Spanish Government, as well as between Esquerra Republicana and the PSOE, emphasising that this agreement guarantees respect for the principle of ordinality. This means that Catalonia should not drop in its position regarding income per capita due to the implementation of the system and its compensation mechanisms among the various regions. The leader of ERC indicated that more money will be allocated to the other autonomous communities and agreed with the Government that this is a model where no one is left worse off and everyone benefits.
