This Monday, the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, presented a royal decree-law related to housing that includes a 100% tax exemption on income tax for property owners who maintain rental prices without increases. However, Sumar has stated that it will not support this measure in Congress, just like Podemos and EH Bildu. During the demolition of the buildings of the Campamento barracks in Madrid, Sánchez announced that the Government will approve the royal decree in the coming weeks, which also includes restrictions on seasonal rental contracts and room rentals to combat misuse. More stringent requirements will be implemented for temporary rentals, and a system of penalties will be established for those who do not comply with the national regulations on short-term rentals. It will be determined that the total rent of all rooms cannot exceed the cost of renting the entire property, and in areas with high demand, the price control mechanisms established in the housing law will be applied.
Sánchez announces income tax reductions for property owners who do not raise rent, a measure that Sumar rejects supporting.
