The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, urged the international community to address the dangers associated with artificial intelligence. He mentioned the possibility that it could be controlled by a group and not benefit the common good, as well as the potential threat to democracy. Sánchez made this call during his speech at the IV Summit on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence, organised by India and attended by state leaders. The government leader stated that artificial intelligence grants humanity a power capable of increasing knowledge, fostering productivity, and improving quality of life. However, he warned that this technology must be guided by principles. «Artificial intelligence must promote freedom, democracy, and human rights,» Sánchez cautioned, expressing his belief that progress without principles is not real progress, just as innovation without a clear purpose or leadership leads to failure.
Sánchez calls for preventing a few from dominating AI and undermining democracy.
