This Thursday, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will meet at Moncloa with Oriol Junqueras, the leader of ERC. This will be the first time they have met since the Catalan was released from prison following his incarceration over the ‘procés’, and they will discuss the funding for Catalonia that was promised to the independence supporters. ERC hopes to reach an agreement that would provide around 5 billion euros additional for Catalonia and anticipates that several commitments will be defined in the meeting, such as the collection of income tax (IRPF) and the timeline for the implementation of the agreement. The Government clarifies that a funding agreement should not be anticipated and reminds that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, is developing a new model for all communities.
