The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has declared that Spain will not support an intervention in Venezuela, as it violates international law and leads the region towards a future of uncertainty and militarism. The leader of the Executive has made it clear that, although Spain does not recognise Maduro’s regime, it will also not accept this intervention carried out by the administration of Donald Trump. In a statement, Sánchez has urged all parties involved to consider the civilian population, to comply with the Charter of the United Nations, and to establish a transition based on dialogue.
