Madrid. Brussels will be the focus of the international agenda for the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, in 2026. This includes two trips to the United States and his role as host of the Ibero-American summit. Sánchez will begin his international agenda in January, participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Before that, he has a meeting scheduled in Madrid with the Spanish ambassadors, where he will outline the priorities of foreign policy for the year. A year in which he will undertake two trips to the United States, in September and December, and will meet with the President of that country, Donald Trump, following a disagreement in 2025. On 22 September, a high-level week will kick off in New York on the occasion of the opening of the session period of the United Nations General Assembly, where Sánchez is expected to speak on behalf of Spain. The President of the United States will open the sessions with a speech and will organise a reception for the attending leaders.
Sánchez will travel to the USA twice this year and will host the Ibero-American summit.
