‘Sentimental Value’ triumphs over ‘Sirat’ and ‘The Secret Agent’ at the international Oscars.

The Norwegian film ‘Sentimental Value’ won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, surpassing the Spanish film ‘Sirat’ and the Brazilian film ‘O Agente Secreto’. Also in the running were ‘It Was Just an Accident’ and ‘The Voice of Hind’. Filmmaker Joaquim Trier gave a speech upon receiving the award, in which he quoted American philosopher James Baldwin: “All adults have a responsibility to children and we should not pay attention to leaders who do not consider this.” Trier expressed his gratitude to all the international directors he was competing against.
